Hope Academy, a school in India, has been providing free Christian English education to its 450 plus students who come from the poorest of the poor families in North Kolkata. The parents of these students are mostly illiterate and are day laborers, maid servants, and rickshaw pullers. The children that you see in the photos are first generation learners. The purpose of the school is to present the Gospel to every student that enters the school and to show them Christ’s love by meeting their basic needs including food, clothing, and a quality education enabling them to break out of the spiral of poverty.
